Our Three Main Types of Bodywork ARe:

Medical Massage

Medical massage is a specialized form of therapy designed to address specific medical conditions, as diagnosed by a physician. This therapeutic approach is tailored to your unique needs, using targeted techniques to promote healing and recovery.

During your medical massage session, your therapist will utilize a range of massage techniques and procedures aimed at alleviating pain, improving mobility, and supporting your overall well-being.

Tui Na

Tui Na is a traditional Chinese massage technique that works along your body’s meridian pathways to balance energy, relieve pain, and support overall health. The term "Tui Na" is the formal Chinese name for Chinese Massage Therapy, translating to "push grasp." This ancient technique was developed to move Qi (energy) throughout the body. Tui Na is an excellent adjunct to acupuncture, effectively relieving inflammation, tension, and muscle pain, and accelerating the healing process following an injury.

Shiatsu

Shiatsu is a therapeutic form of acupressure and muscle meridian stretching rooted in Japanese tradition and based on the principles of Traditional Chinese Medicine. This dynamic body therapy uses thumbs, palms, elbows, knees, and feet to apply pressure along the body’s meridians, aiming to restore energy balance and support the body’s natural healing abilities.

Shiatsu not only addresses physical ailments but also promotes overall well-being by stimulating circulation, releasing deep-seated tension, and aiding in the body's natural detoxification processes. It helps individuals reconnect with their innate capacity for self-healing, encouraging both physical and psychological balance.

During a Shiatsu session, you remain fully clothed or covered by a sheet, with treatment typically taking place on a futon on the floor. The pressure applied can be gentle or firm, tailored to your specific needs and conditions.

Yes. Shiatsu is particularly good for releasing stress and stress-related problems.

Tui Na, rooted in Traditional Chinese Medicine, is the oldest massage technique in the world. It is comprehensive in its approach, offering a wide range of actions and benefits. Tui Na works to unblock the body’s energy pathways, stimulate acupuncture points, and improve blood circulation. The technique involves deep and gentle gestures applied directly to the skin using thumbs, wrists, forearms, or even elbows.

Shiatsu, while now widely considered Japanese, also has roots in ancient Chinese medicine and philosophies. Unlike Tui Na, Shiatsu is typically performed over clothing without the use of oils. The practitioner applies pressure to specific points on the body to release tension and restore balance, but it does not involve the broader range of techniques found in Tui Na.
